Hey guys! Tomorrow we will be presenting our research on body image and I though this movie might be a good way to kick it off! A few years ago I did a project on body image and read a lot about the dove campaign. Well talk more about this video in class tomorrow but I thought you guys might like to check it out ahead of time and maybe give it some thought!

The craziest part about this video is not all the make up they use but the fact that they actually lengthen her neck with photoshop. No wonder the ideal standard of beauty for girls is unattainable, it's completely fabricated!
ReplyDeleteI've watched this video so many times and I'm still amazed every time I see it. It's scary to me not only because that's what women feel they need to look like, but also because that's what companies feel the need to do in order to sell makeup. Erin, the photoshopping is what really gets me too. :(
ReplyDeleteIt goes to show you how commercialized our society has become. I like how Nick mentioned media as our over used reason for parts of child development because it's movies like this that truly epitomize its role. Why would you buy the product if the people who make it don't even think that it's enough?
