Ha I loved these videos. Personally I don't think that they are gay maybe the spaghetti thing was close but I feel like it was obvious they were kidding. I know a lot of guys who consider themselves in a bromance and I actually think that the bromance has allowed many males to have a closer relationship with their guy friends. They can be close and joke about being gay but they know they aren't which makes them more secure and because they can be close to their friends they can talk about a lot of things that normally we as a society think they don't or shouldn't talk about.
I think that the true change in our acceptance of it being ok to be friends with whomever will be when guys can be close friends and not feel the need to joke about whether or not they are gay (which I think is actually a way of making really clear to people around them where they stand, but in a socially acceptable way). Why can't we just be good friends with people without making it explicit what our sexual-inclinations are, or are not?
I feel it is different for guys to have close relationships than girls, based on a lot of the factors we talked about on Thursday (their need for masculinity, toughness, and lack of emotion). These are the aspects that our present culture defines as guy code, and having a close relationship with other guys goes against all of these factors. So, when we see guys acting in a closer way than normal, we automatically assume they are not behaving how normal guys do, therefore associating them as gay. I think as long as our society perceives that men should be masculine, and devoid of emotion and weakness, we will not be comfortable with straight "bromances".
I personally wouldnt call them gays, but because of some scenes (which probably are a little bit exaggerated) the impression about these guys can be different. And I think that true "bromance" (i dont know why in US for every single behavior there is a certain name) is a very good thing and can be only between very good friends. Hugging and hanging out with friend show that gays have also emotions and trying to express them somehow.
